Ausbrennen

Burning out

The construction method of Hky (pronounced: Haki) Eichhorn is unique. He burns out the naturally grown stem over the open fire, after he has pierced it and broadened with chisels. Here is his short summary:

---

Elementary Wind-Horn creation (Didgeridoo) by Hky Eichhorn

"It is the elements fire, water, earth and air, with which we connect at the creation of the wind horn. The rustic, dried flower stem of the agave serves as a raw blank. At nightfall, we burn it out by the open fire. It takes darkness to see and direct the burning out process. With water, the burning trunk is always again cooled from the outside and smothered in the earth at the end of the fire. It is necessary all our attention to successfully carry out this process (playing with fire). The further completion of the instrument then takes place the next day."

For more than 20 years, the creation of the Wind-Horn has been part of Hky Eichhorn's way of experiencing the essence of nature and the elements. For about 15 years he accompanies people in courses for self creation of agave Wind-Horns.

However, the sound of the resulting instruments is not exactly calculable, since the internal shape is not exactly controllable when burned out. But that is not in the foreground with this method. Who have special ideas for sound, you should choose the blank together with Hky and follow his instructions when burning out. The right moment plays a decisive role in the work steps and the targeted dosage of the elements requires a lot of experience.
